On 6 June 2025, at the invitation of National People's Congress deputy and Hong Kong Legislative Council member Chan Yung, HKAML and member organisations visited the Legislative Council for an exchange meeting.

Chan Yung chaired the meeting, joined by NPC deputy and Legislative Council Finance Committee Chairman Ronick Chan Chun-ying. Discussions highlighted the Alliance's role in international connections and compliance innovation and laid groundwork for cooperation with legislative, enforcement and regulatory bodies.

Teng Zhenlong, a deputy to the 12th and 13th NPC, attended and spoke about Hong Kong's strategic role in international financial compliance and AML, expressing expectations for the Alliance's contribution as a bridge and source of innovation.

Members discussed stablecoins and AML. Chairman Zhang Chuantao outlined developments and strategic priorities in cross-border compliance cooperation and financial security, and thanked legislators and other participants for their support.

HKAML positions itself as a nonprofit international compliance cooperation platform combining technical standards, data collaboration and capacity building to support Hong Kong as a global financial security hub.

The Alliance's work priorities

1. Legislative cooperation: contribute to the development and coordination of Hong Kong's stablecoin and AML laws and regulations.

2. Data and technology cooperation: develop KYC and compliance data services.

3. Industry examples: advance compliance innovation pilots and share best practices.

4. Professional and international exchange: organise training and policy discussions.

The visit demonstrated the value of a civic professional compliance platform. The Alliance will contribute research and mechanism design to Hong Kong's stablecoin framework, particularly mainland–Hong Kong compliance coordination and standardised industry response approaches.
